A young man leaves his family and goes travelling in search of himself. After countless meetings, accompanied by the music of the violin that he carries with him, the protagonist falls in love with a woman in a castle. Perpetually restless, however, he is soon off again… Against the backdrop of a magical and harmonious landscape, Taugenichts’ peregrinations are a fair representation of the best-known aspects of German Romanticism.
